Sweet Berries

Hello, sweet friends! It's nearing the end of summer, but today we have a newly remixed digital image for you from Power Poppy by Marcella Hawley called Berry It. And is it ever sweet - and with a great sentiment!

Power Poppy, Marcella Hawley, Berry It, Digital Remix, August 2015

Raspberries are a mid-summer treat, and I was surprised at the variety of colors. I took a little artistic license and made mine a bit darker than most - so they look ripe and really sweet! I don't know about you, but I love fruit year-round.

For some of my dear digi-phobes, this card was an easy one - really! I opened Microsoft Word, pulled in the image, resized it, did a "copy and paste" for another digital image, positioned them top and bottom, and printed the page on Neenah Solar White paper. (Remember, I always try to print two so I can easily color with the same markers and make another card - which I actually finished yesterday.) I found a piece of "raspberry dots" designer paper and used a die set to make a frame. I cut two extra white "frames" to layer under the designer paper frame to give some depth to the frame.

After coloring my image and die cutting it, I used my MISTI to make sure my sentiment was stamped correctly. I can't tell you how many times I've messed up a card after spending hours coloring, but no more thanks to my MISTI. I picked one of the sentiments from Farmers Market that works perfectly with these berries for the person I made this card for. After adding the sentiment, you know I looked at it and decided it needed something more, right? And you guessed it, piercing won out. But when I placed it on the card (I always "audition" a card before I glue anything), the piercing did not show very much. So I pondered some and decided to tape some small strips of black paper behind the piercing, so now it shows better. Cool, eh? I adhered my "frame" to the card base with red tape. So once again, print, color, die cut, pierce, and adhere to the card base - and it's done - well, two are done now! Smile!

I wonder what your favorite fruit is and how you like to eat it. For me, I love mine over ice cream - yum! And it can be almost any kind of fruit. I am so thankful God provides us with a wonderful variety of fruit, and fruit is not only tasty but healthy too. How sweet is that? Just another reminder for me of how God gives us good things.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Cheryl! I love the deep, rich color of the berries and the sentiment is the perfect finishing touch. Your card design is striking and showcases your beautifully colored artwork perfectly.

I enjoy fruit, as well. I like to eat what's in season, too, I believe that's the way God intended it! I love berries and melons of all kinds. And I like mine unadorned...I put it in a lovely crystal bowl and enjoy it!

Your blog is a delight and I really appreciate the Scripture you share.

Have a glorious day, my friend!
Hugs,
Barb:)

Look at your beautiful coloring! Love the clean look with your pretty frame, too. I'm still using my old fashioned Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for sentiments -- draw a faint line using grid paper as a guide. The MISTI has it all built in and looks much easier. Good to hear you love it so much. Thank you for such a gorgeous card today, Cheryl!

Oh Cheryl, after gazing upon this lovely creation I am so tempted to buy me some raspberries. You might as well put chocolate in front of me and tell me I can't have any. Your card makes those berries look good enough to devour. Yum!

Just full on perfection, Cheryl!! Love how deep, dark, and saturated you went with your expert coloring — it takes skills to go that bold and you pulled it off so beautifully, as always. And I just love your cheery and God's gift of nature-praising blog post, toooooo! I couldn't agree more. p.s.... on the topic of berry desserts, my favorite is raspberries over vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and salted pecans. DANGEROUSLY GOOD and now I will probably dream about it until I get to actually have some.... xoxox thank you for the lovely card!

I love the colors you chose for the fruit, the darker the better :) I love your idea about adding the black strip behind the piercing, gives it so much. I would say strawberries are my favorite and I do add them to a little ice cream, we found the breyers natural vanilla ice cream, has very limited ingredients so I let myself have a serving (yes I measure it out) of the ice cream and a cup of strawberries with it, yum,
