Casting all your cares on Him...

Hello, sweet friends! It's been a busy time, and I know we are all looking forward to spring. While our weather has been lovely, I know that snow still is falling in parts of the country. Wishing you warmer weather soon!

This month I am honored to be a guest designer for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge. It's a challenge that I love but one that has often stumped me. So the best way to fix that is to meet it head on! As a guest designer, I know the colors ahead of time and place half sheets of the card stock on my table to be inspired by them and visualize what I might do with the colors. This week's colors are Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, and Soft Sky (Stampin' Up), and they just spoke flowers. You know my love for coloring flowers, right?!

Cheryl Scrivens, CherylQuilts, Splitcoaststampers, Color Challenge, April 2018, Penny Black Full of Glee, Verve Stamps Faith Medley

I found a Penny Black stamp that I could color with my Copic markers blending from the darkest areas out to the petal edges with Blackberry Bliss (and just a wee touch of yellow in the center -- can you see it?). Of course the leaves were easier with Mossy Meadow, and then I added some shading using Soft Sky with pointillism. My positioning of the flower allowed for the precious Scripture verse that I know will encourage my friend.

I used a decorative die, added some paper piercing, and then adhered it to the base. I added a make-shift easel on the back that folds flat for mailing, but it allows the card to be displayed like a normal card.

This Scripture verse is such a great reminder for us all that no matter what our cares are (and we all have them -- big and small), God cares for each of us and wants us humbly to place all our burdens and cares on Him. I sometimes think that "Oh, I have this under control." But He wants us to bring all our cares to Him. Nothing is too big or too small for God to handle. That brings me great peace, and I trust that it will bring you peace as well.

Cast all your cares on Him
for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

Oh, sweet friends, thank you for your visits and comments. I love reading each one and pray for you and your requests. Your prayers for me continue to be an encouragement, and I thank you! May God bless you and give you joy today and every day.

Blessings,

Absolutely gorgeous colouring of your beautiful blooms and the filigree frame is such a lovely touch - so delicate and pretty! A beautiful card, I’m sure your friend will love it and the care that’s gone in to making it will make it all the more special for her.

wooooo, so lovely, Cheryl! I especially enjoy the deep color choices combined with the light tips on each petal! Fabulous, and so beautiful. The GC die is MY ALL TIME FAVORITE. For the longest time, I had to force myself not to use it - and now I've been bitten by the bug again. this is an amazing card, Cheryl! Love it! Congratulations on your GDT gig at the SCSCC! xx

I pinned this card before I read how you did it. It is so gorgeous and it took my breath away. This card is stunning and sublime as well. Pretty soft colors are bewitching. I guess you can tell that I loved it? I spend this afternoon coloring my project from Kit and Clowder and now I want to tackle the Gimp that you encouraged me to do. Wish me luck!

Stunning Cheryl, a very beautiful card! You've done a wonderful job with the challenge and I agree with you, color challenges are sometimes incredibly "challenging". The stamped image is beautiful and you've selected a verse that all of us can apply in our lives on a daily basis. Hugs sweet friend

Oh my Cheryl, this is absolutely lovely, such wonderful coloring, the softness and shading to the coloring is just amazing, the verse is always a great reminder to all of us that we need to trust in God that he will carry our burdens no matter the size and we need him along our journey, through good and bad. May he continue to keep you in his care, bringing peace and strength!

It has, indeed, been a while, but such a lovely treat today and worth waiting for. These are beautiful colors and I know with your eye for detail and the great care you take with your coloring and crafting you would always do beautiful work for this challenge. Your card prompted me to visit your gallery at SCS and I see you've been sharing some beautiful things there. I'm sorry I don't get over there to see them more often. You're an amazing stamper, Cheryl!

This card is just stunning mf...I sure wish I could colour as well as you!!
I hope you are doing well. As usual, I am too busy with all that is going on. We have had a very long winter with an ice storm on the wknd and all schools closed which meant I had extra kids 4 times this month. There have also been pd days and we haven't been able to get out much because of all the ice accumulation. Can't wait for the nicer weather on the wknd.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful inspirational work mf.
xx Karen

Great colours, Cheryl, well done on being chosen to be guest designer truly worthy honour for a great artist. Lovely skilfully made card and really love the verse too.
Casting our care on Him THEN leaving it there, that’s the hard bit, isn’t it???
Not to use the fishing line trick and pull it back and worry afresh!! That’s me all over again I tell you, so bad at it.
Thanks so much for your great work, sis you are a belssing, Shaz in Oz.x

Faithfully praying for you, sweet friend. Thank you so much for the reminder. I love that verse, too, and so many times it seems that I can think it is intended for everyone else, but me. But, I know God truly cares about each one of us, and He couldn't have gone to greater lengths to prove that love. May He bless you abundantly today!

Oh, what a lovely card Cheryl. That verse is so precious and so true. He cares for us all... and yes, big or small, we should cast all our cared on him. He is the only true God and he is a good God! Amen to that! Lovely flower and the coloring is amazing as usual. Love the pointillism around the flower image. So soft! Wonderful design all round the edge!

I missed your post in April but was very pleased to see your comment on my blog today and pop over to see it now. I love the colors together, although I wouldn’t have thought of it myself. The coloring is so pretty as is the delicate edge of your fancy fold card. The verse is a good reminder! Sending prayers for you and my thanks for your encouragement.
