Hello, sweet friends! It's Saturday, and next Tuesday is the first day of spring. After a long, hard winter, we are all looking forward to seeing flowers bloom and the weather warm.
I am late for this month's Instant Garden release by Marcella Hawley, but it is a darling one called Cup of Columbine. Here is Marcy's wonderful description:
There are so many beautiful colors for Columbine flowers, but my favorite color is blue (not that you would know that with all the pinks I've been using lately...hehe!). I found some lovely ideas and colored the flowers and leaves. I was struggling with the color for the Susie Cooper tea cup and found today's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers just what I needed. It was an unlikely image that inspired me -- a frog. Haha! Yes, it is a blue frog on green leaves with some dark gray/black. Since some of Susie Cooper tea cups are found in dark colors with white polka dots, I finished coloring the cup a darker color and used a white gel pen for the polka dots. I added some stripes to the cloth after I finished coloring it (since I used a regular blue writing pen). Not sure it's my favorite, but I enjoyed the challenge. I used a new decorative die to add a bit of frill and then mounted it on a Marina Mist card base. Voila! It is done, and I hope you like it. I think it is growing on me a little. ;)
Yesterday I found out that a dear young mom of five was called home to the Lord after a two-year battle with cancer. Please pray for her family as these dear young ones will surely have precious few and fading memories of a mom who loved them dearly. I am thankful for the church family they have to love and encourage them on this hard journey.
Many of us are looking toward Holy Week, celebrating Good Friday when Jesus was crucified and died and then Easter (Resurrection Sunday), when Jesus rose from the dead. I praise God that we do not live without hope and that this young mom is now in the presence of her Savior with no more pain and suffering. And when He calls me home, I look forward to being with Jesus as well for all eternity. May we consider the true meaning of Easter this year.
Jesus said to her,
"I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
though he die, yet shall he live."
John 11:25
I am late for this month's Instant Garden release by Marcella Hawley, but it is a darling one called Cup of Columbine. Here is Marcy's wonderful description:
"A delicate tea cup overflowing with pretty plants is steeped in detail and delight. Columbine (Aquilegia) flowers intermingle with ruffled miniature Hosta leaves for a bouquet that will tickle your coloring fancy all the way through summer. You get two designs -- one with the flowers and tea cup only, and a second, more challenging composition with a baby robin snapping up a few of the Columbine seeds. Both images have a lighter 'no-line' version included.
For this Color Story, I'm envisioning an exploration of blues and purples -- the classic Columbine colors, and you may not know that Hosta leaves come in lots of blue hybrids. Hostas also often have variegated foliage, which can be streaks of vanilla, chartreuse, chalky blue, and various greens -- all on the SAME LEAF! Do a bit of Googling, and create a piece in blues that does anything but give YOU the blues! :)"

Cheryl, I am so happy to see your version of the columbine. I love this new digi from Power Poppy! I saw that Marcella said it will be out in clear too, so I might wait till then to buy it, but the digi does look very temping to use with and without the bird, etc. The color blue you used is so pretty, and you captured the beauty of the flower. Your new die is very nice with that interesting edge!
I am very sad for the family whose mother and wife died. Praying that they will have comfort during this difficult time. Easter is a special season, and may it bring them hope.
I saw this on SCS Cheryl ... so beautiful in the blues, it pops wonderfully. Love the framing too!
Your coloring is stunning Cheryl. The mixture of hues blend so well together. Thinking to add the stripe to the cloth was a wonderful idea. Adds even more of a homey feel. I have the GMD Pleated Circle dies, may have to get the rectangles too. Very pretty.
Oh Cheryl, this is so lovely! My favorite color, too, and you couldn't have chosen a more perfect edging for your panel! Beautifully done!
Oh, how beautiful!! Just lovely! I am praying for you, sweet friend, and so appreciate your prayers for my family and me. You are such a blessing! God bless you with a wonderful Lord's Day and Easter season!
Cheryl, such a beautiful job you did with your coloring! I love the blue with touches of purple, and then you have that darling polka dot cup. Everything is cuter with polka dots! That's a very pretty new die you have there, too. It frames your image beautifully without a lot of fuss. Love that! Any loss to cancer is a tragedy, but a young life leaving all those children motherless is especially devastating. I'm so sorry to hear about it.
Wow, beautiful card. I love the colors, they just make it pop!
Such a beautiful, delicate, fabulous take on this contemporary GORGEOUS Columbine arrangement! So sweet and beautifully colored as always with lovely shading. Gorgeous Cheryl, I just love the blues and great idea with the color of the pot also. That die is a lovely one to frame these beautiful flowers.
So sad to hear of the young mom who lost her life, we had a lady in our town get hit by a car and she had 6 kids, but in the case with the young mom you are talking about she and her family know the Lord and that is such a reassuring thing to know, Praying that all of them can lean on our Father and find rest and peace in his presence.
Wishing you a great week ahead!

Each set that comes out is one that I really want. This is no exception. I have been drooling over it for a week now, but still, have not pushed the button. Your inspirational coloring and example are sure stunning. I think you may have been the deciding factor.
So sorry to hear of the loss of that young mother from cancer. I am so glad that we do live with hope and will see our loved ones again. And they will be without pain and beautiful again.

OH, Cheryl, that is so sad about the young mom. Sad for those left behind but we know she is in a much better place. So difficult for kids to grow up without their mom though. Your card is stunning. I saw it first on SCS and fell in love with EVERYTHING! Stunning!
Cheryl, your card is beautiful! I love blues too, and love the purple and aqua tones you added. The die cut frame is so pretty, just love the eyelet edging. I"m so sorry to hear about the family that lost their mom. Sending heartfelt thoughts.

I just love the look of this...you are so good with the markers, you need to give me some lessons mf. Wouldn't that be so wonderful, colouring together.

Such a lovely image and so so beautifully colored and presented in this gorgeous card! You always create such gorgeous cards that are such wonders to look at. So very talented.
Sorry to hear of the young mother who has passed on. My heart and prayers are with her sweet family.
Hi Cheryl. First of all, my heart breaks for this family...and will remember them in prayer. I know children are so resilient, but nothing can ever replace the loss of a Mom no matter the age. Did you know this woman...is her family part of your church family?
I love your card...the beautiful blues with hints of purples...so beautifully colored!! Your frog inspiration did the trick, didn’t it? ;). Your cards are always so pristine, perfectly finished...and your words are surely used by God! Hugs and love!!
What a gorgeous card Cheryl. Love the blue hues and the polka-dot cloth. Sweet! The decorative rectangle is so elegant! Oh, the way the Lord works! We don't understand it fully, but He does have a plan! We just have to trust in Him!
I love the Columbine flowers! The pattern on the napkin just finishes it off - a detail I too often forget. :D
Such beautiful colouring Cheryl! A really pretty card xx
You can NEVER go wrong with blue anything... LOVE this! The cup looks totally cute and really love the blue hues you used on this image. BEAUTIFUL all around sweet friend.
