Black-Eyed Susan

Hello, dear friends! What a fun-filled post we have today. So let's get started.

First, it's September 15, and here is the new Instant Garden digital stamp set called Black-Eyed Susan. This is a simple early-autumn botanical paired with three sentiments. Marcy has been so fascinated with prairie wildflowers (note the Pure Prairie Bouquet), and this Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) goes along with that thinking! Now isn't this a beauty?

I had hoped to try some watercoloring but decided on doing something totally different from what I've done so far with the digital images. I fussy cut the image - oh my! Yes, I printed it out to fit the size I wanted for my layout (one of the benefits of a digital image), colored it, and fussy cut it! Oh, how I loved doing that! And this pretty black-eyed Susan is easier to cut out than I thought it would be. I CASE'd one of the beautiful birthday cards I received (thank you, Tracy)! I embossed the teal designer paper and sanded it to show the raised portion. Next I printed one of the sentiments from Cuppa Buttercups and then used the notebook edge die, rounded the edges of the "notebook" and popped it over the embossing. I used my Empressor tool to add some shape to the petals and leaves, added something dimensionals, and popped it in place. And I even added some Wink of Stella to the petals and sequins! Wow, I think I am really getting wild, eh? But I think they work with the card.

I was reading from one of my devotionals yesterday morning, and it was about having a grateful heart versus an unthankful heart. One is full, and the other is empty, and the difference is almost always gratitude. She challenged us to make a "gratitude list" of what God has provided. It sure makes me "full in the things that matter most." I praise God for all He has given me...for He is good and loves us with an everlasting love.

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
for His steadfast love endures forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34

Cheryl, I really love these new flowers and the pretty teal color you paired with the classic gold black eyed Susan. How can it possibly already be the 15th of September! This month is flying by! I just bought a wink of Stella pen the other day and have not even had a chance to open it up. I am looking forward to having another choice other than my Sakura glitter pen. Have a great day!

Cheryl, I just love what you did with this digi, you always color with such depth, such skill, and such beauty. But I love the jaunty angle of the notepaper die (looks so "back-to-schoolsy") and the sentiment works extremely well paired up the way you have it! Bravo. Of course I love the idea of a gratitude list, and am going to set aside some time today to work on mine. I know YOU are way up there on that list! Thank you for always sharing such sunshine. xoxo

Cheryl, your card is just beautiful. I love the mix of the elegant coloring, and the whimsical back-to-school feel of this creation! As always, I love reading your post. I'm working on a program for our women's group at church, and it's all about cups half full, etc....Thanks for always lifting me up!

Oh how beautiful my friend!! I just love the coloring of the daisies!! Your coloring makes it look more textured and so realistic! The use of the notebook die and the blue background is a perfect design! Gorgeous, Cheryl!! I read that same devotional...LOL! It is true, if we really list all the things we are thankful for, we would indeed feel rich! We are definitely richest in "Him" So glad we had a chance to catch up. :)
HUGS!

Gorgeous card, Cheryl dear friend, great theme too I love " in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus, concerning you", and often quote it to myself to help get Gods perspective on things.

He is a good, good Father! Cheryl, this is so lovely. You did a wonderful job with the fussy cutting - loved the the background and all the love you've given this piece. I think once you get going in that happy place your "art heart" kicks in and before you know it - Tada! Full of detail, technique, and beautiful coloring. Love it!

Cheryl, you've had the hang of it for a long, long time! It looks as if you were born having the hang of this stamping thing. I love what you've done with these beautiful flowers. First, you've colored them expertly, and then your fussy cutting is so precise it appears as if they were cut with a specially made die. Looks like you tore a page from a notebook and set your flowers on it when you came in from the garden. I'm still hanging onto my SU! notebook punch, but I really like the look of this die cut with the dashed line. Oh, and that gentle Wink of Stella sparkle and the sequins make a wonderful finish. All that and still an easy to mail card. Brilliant!

Dear, sweet Cheryl, this is absolutely beautiful! Your fussy cutting is amazing, as is your coloring! I love that sweet little notepaper element and the perfectly placed sequins. So very beautiful, my friend! Isn't it amazing how God fills us up when we have a grateful heart! He is such a good, good Father! ...and YOU are a sweet, sweet sister-in-Christ, for which I am thankful! :)
