Here's a very old card I shared on Splitcoaststampers. (five years old - yikes, I was just starting with Copic markers). I guess I have improved some...hehe! I paper-pieced her outfit and bow, colored her body, and added some shading with Copic markers on the paper-piecing. And even back then I loved to pierce!
Today I would like to introduce you to the newest little teddy bear "fella" to my collection. His name is Barnsley, and his spaniel's name is Bentley. Barnsley was adopted by me from Katlyn, daughter to Tricia Traxler. You may know these talented friends as T. Joy and K. Joy on Splitcoaststampers. They make beautiful cards, and Katlyn is also making the most adorable teddy bears. I saw this post on Tricia's blog last year and just had to adopt Barnsley. Now (sitting in my curio cabinet) he is with Grandpa Norman (another very dear and beautifully handmade bear I purchased years ago while we were visiting the Teddy Bear Museum in Naples, which no longer exists...sad to say). When I introduced them, well, you can see how happy they are together. (Yes, we "bear" lovers are a little funny about our bears! Just ask Katlyn and any other bear lover you know!)
But the big news is -- Katlyn has entered Barnsley in a contest, and we would love for you to vote for him. Like her precious mom Tricia, Katlyn is a dear sister in Christ. Tricia has posted a card for Katlyn here along with a photo of Barnsley and where you can vote.
Here's a photo of Barnsley that just melted my heart! Click on him to vote. (There are specific rules for voting, so please follow the instructions below for your vote to count.)
The link takes you to Category 1. Scroll down to the bottom, select Category 9 (Friends and Pairs - Vignettes), scroll down again to the bottom, and click on the right where it says, "Vote now for your favorite in Category 9." Click "Vote," and you will be taken to a long list, and Barnsley and Bentley are at the top. Click the circle, scroll to the bottom, and hit "vote." Thank you!
I know teddy bears aren't for everyone, but I love mine dearly mostly because of my love for my mom and what she loved...most of all her love for the Lord. It's a reminder that we should pass along those values we love most, leaving a legacy to the next generation and beyond. It reminds me of this wonderful hymn by Steve Green. Here is the chorus:
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful.
May the fire of our devotion light their way.
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe.
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful.
May the fire of our devotion light their way.
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe.
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful.
Blessings,

And yet another thing we have in common, Cheryl! I've collected Teddies most of my adult life and they are everywhere in our home! (not an active collector anymore, but I still love what I have). Your card is darling, as is your new adoptee! Thanks for sharing, and I will certainly go vote for this little cutie!
oh how sweet Cheryl, got another vote in :)

What a beautiful testament of your love for your mom! I think your card is delightful, Cheryl. I can see why you've adopted this darling: he's as sweet as can be. I'll head on over to the voting sight. Hope your friend wins! Hugs Anne
Oh what FUN! Voted for Barnsley +!
I voted! Thanks for the great instructions!!! I would have gotten a bit lost on the voting page! Love your sweet card!
Such an awesome card, Cheryl. Thanks for mentioning the voting, I will go vote! K.Joy does such sweet work! (My parents were missionaries while I was growing up & they used that Steve Green song during one of their slide presentations one year. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I'll be humming that song all day!)
Dear Cheryl, it was a pleasure to vote for Barnsley, as I am also a bear collector. The Lord knew when he introduced us didn't He? (she smiles). I loved your comment about your mom, and I couldn't agree more. My youngest sister, Cheryl was a huge bear collector, so this vote is for her and for my MIL who sadly passed away this past Wednesday. She would have loved him. I'd love to know how to purchase one of Tricia's bears. Send me an email with the info please. This was a lovely post, Cheryl. Thank you for letting everyone know.
Hugs to you dear friend - Susie ~
What a beautiful card... so vintage and sweet. LOVE it. And your Copic coloring/blending looks amazing even five years ago! The bears are adorable. Heading over to vote now. :)
Voted!
Awww, your Teddy bear card is so cute! What a fun legacy your Mom has passed on. I love little Barnsley and his pup, Bentley. You must have an amazing collection and so fun to see and enjoy. I love this guy with the specs and the crooked smile. I'm going to go check out that vote now. Thanks for a lovely post, Cheryl!
Oh my, your card is the most sweetest thing I've seen lately. Love that image and your design! Thanks for sharing those adorable photos too! Hugs.
Cheryl they are just too cute and I would say even 5 years ago you were wonderful at coloring. I voted, you had great instructions, took no time at all, good luck :)
I voted! Good luck to Barnsley and Bentley!
Oh my gosh he is adorable. I know that stuffed animals have been around for a long time, but there is just something about bears isn't there. I cast my vote for these cuties. :-)
