Hello, sweet friends, and may I wish you a happy Friday as you look forward to the weekend! May you have a time of rest and refreshment and a wonderful Lord's Day.
I made this card for this week's Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers and rotated the sketch 90 degrees to accommodate this sweet little camellia in a glass dish. The most enjoyable part of making a card for me is coloring, and I often wish I could just color an image and then "wave a magic wand" to have it made into a card - ha! But that is part of the fun too! I kept this card simple and used some designer paper, added a thin ribbon in the middle, and stamped the sentiment at the bottom. The card seemed to "beckon" me to do some paper-piercing for added interest around the oval and the bottom half. Because the scalloped oval around the flower was cut from designer paper, I sanded it to show some of the white base. And the oval image is popped on the card with dimensional tape (so it's still very mailable).
This card reminds me of some of the beautiful blossoms my husband has brought home from our friends' house after he has helped them with their computers. They have a gorgeous garden and many flowers and plants. They often send him home with either a single flower (and I can place it in a glass bowl much like this one) or even a bouquet or a plant. They are precious friends from church, and Mary's partial to pink...so this card seems perfect for her.
Thanks so much for "stopping by" and sharing a comment, or thought, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I continue to be in awe of the beauty God has shown all around us and feel so blessed to be able to try to imitate some of what He has given us.
Blessings,

Your friend, Mary, will enjoy this card so much! It has such a sweetness to it with your pretty papers and beautiful coloring. I feel the same about card making. I love the coloring and I love making the layouts, but then sometimes it almost seems like too much to put them both together! Once again I admire how you've sacrificed nothing in the way of beauty to keep this an easy mailer.
Oh my, Cheryl.....what a lovely card! Your coloring of the bloom and glass bowl is perfection itself but then you add these pretty, pretty papers and stamp the sentiment directly on the patterned paper....love that! The piercing is such a nice touch and finishes things off beautifully. I am sure your friend Mary will LOVE this! :)
So lovely my friend. Camelias are in a class all to themselves and you have brought this one to life. The sanding you did on the oval gives such a great effect and your sweet and simple design lets the bloom take front and center. Have a blessed weekend! Hugs!
Cheryl, this is gorgeous!!! I love the papers and the pretty ribbon! Gorgeous coloring and what a great way to use the sketch!
Absolutely beautiful sis. What I wouldn't give to sit and watch you create your wonderful cards. Have a lovely weekend.
This is stunning Cheryl! Love this image, so pretty.

Such a beautiful card Cheryl! I love colouring too and also wish for that magic, wand :-) (but yes, card making is fun too). Gorgeous colouring and I love the DP you chose. Beautiful!
Dearest Cheryl, this is such a pretty and feminine card! I just love the colors you used :) You certainly know how to brighten someone's day, sweet friend. Have a blessed Sunday! Hugs!
What a lovely little Camille showing off its beauty in that pretty bowl.
I especially enjoyed the paper print at the bottom with the definitions that tied in with blossoms and such.
You are so creative Cheryl!
Your hands graciously create beauty for us to enjoy, thank you.
Have a blessed Lord's day tomorrow as you worship the King of Kings.
Blessings and love, Debbie
Beautiful cards Cheryl. Love the pretty flower and the hues. The paper-piercing looks really nice. Great touch.
So beautiful and so well done my precious friend. I love your colouring. Wish I could come colour with you!!! although we most likely wouldn't get a lot done sitting in the sun drinking our tea.
hugs,
K
This is simply gorgeous. I just love how beautifully colored and shaded that wonderful flower image is. Well done!

Oh, what a beautiful blossom in your dish. You color everything so pretty.
I would love to have a blossom in a dish right now. The only thing I have at the moment is a Canescens mountain azalea. Guess I could take some blooms off it.
Have a wonderful day. We're having Spring rains all week.
Hugs~~~~

Your coloring is just beautiful, I so love your choice of papers to compliment it too, Lovely card!!
this is lovely and beautiful Cheryl!!! I love Camellia as much as I love roses because they bloom when few other things are in bloom! I float them in bowls just like your image. Thank you for such a pretty memory!
