Power Poppy Instant Gardener - February Release

Welcome to the Power Poppy Instant Garden Digital Release for February! As a reminder, an "instant garden" is the monthly digital stamp collection from Power Poppy by Marcella Hawley. You can buy, download, print, and color the digi images - in an instant - today!

I am delighted to share this month's digital release. Feast your eyes on this beautiful French lilac! And have you noticed that sweet little lady bug on the leaf? Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers and oh so fragrant. They grew in our backyard in New Jersey and were always in a large vase in our house and in my office. This delicate lilac comes with a lovely "thinking of you" sentiment - the digital set is called French Lilac

Power Poppy, Instant Garden Digital Stamp Release, French Lilac, February 2015

After searching for images of French lilacs (and oh did I swoon over the many colors and hues...they are so romantic), I decided to go with lavender/purple, using a variety of V and BV Copic markers. I used Labels 28 die for the focal image and sponged with Antique Linen, and I edged the border with my Krylon gold leafing pen. I used the coordinating Devine Eloquence die over the lavender card stock (that helped to dress up the card) and edged that in gold as well. Add to the card base, and it's done. Truly, the most enjoyable part of making this card was coloring this beautiful image! And, by the way, there really are yellow lady bugs...hehe! I decided to go for yellow for a soft, subtle look! Don't you just love this sentiment by Emerson with the beautiful font with the lilac? And this is a mailable card (a goal I continue to strive for this year).

Power Poppy, Instant Gardeners, French Lilac, Digital Image, CherylQuilts, Designed by Cheryl Scrivens

Once again, I used Word to "drag and drop" the image of the lilac into my "document." I resized it (from the corner) and and then added the digital sentiment from Geraniums. (Remember to "bring to front" the sentiment by right clicking on the sentiment image.) I do a test print on copy paper to see how it fits in the die and adjust from there. Once I get the two images where I want them, I "group" them. Now I can copy and paste this "group" and put four "images" on a single sheet and print them to make four cards. (After all, the creative work is done, and I can just color along with some beautiful music!)

So now it's time to visit the rest of the amazing Instant Gardeners and to visit Power Poppy's website to get this new digital release - today (no shipping required)!

Thanks so much for "stopping by" and sharing a comment, thought, or question...and I hope you have a wonderful week! And warm hugs to all!

Blessings,

Absolutely stunning Cheryl! I love the sponged effects and beautiful die cut -- it just makes your gorgeous coloring pop all the more! I also loved how you said you printed extras to be able to color to beautiful music! I never, never, never lift a marker or colored pencil without music! ;-) Both feed the soul!

Oh, my goodness gracious! Your sponging makes this look like it has a frame popped up over it, and your coloring has so much depth and beauty! This is one of my favorite dies AND a favorite flower to color. Your gold leafing is the perfect finishing touch. Truly swoonworthy, Cheryl!

But thank you for stopping by - I'm always thrilled to hear from new readers!

You have such a pretty blog - I will be visiting again soon!

Hugs and love,

Very impressive. The frame and gold leaf pen added elegance galore to your lovely colored lilac. Beautiful hues of violet and blue violet, in fact, I even saw a bit of red violet when I increased the view - beautifully blended. And yes, I have seen yellow lady bugs and I love both colors. A nice addition to the illustration.

This is sheer rich elegance my friend. So classy in it's design and your beautiful coloring just tops it off. I have a "family" of lady bugs that hatches in my crafty closet every year. I'm not sure if we can grow lilacs down here, but they are a lovely flower. How all is well with you. Hugs!

Hi Cheryl, thank you so much for your lovely message on my blog!
And your card is gorgeous, and my favourite colour too. You know, as a kid I was terrified of the yellow ladybugs, as my dad jokingly told me they were poisonous. It was years before I'd let one sit on my hand!
