Pink Poinsettias

This is Week One of our Shining the Light Scripture Inspiration - Ecclesiates 3:1.

For everything there is a season, 
and a time for every matter under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Yes, God says there is a season for everything, and the season I chose for the challenge is Christmas (trying to build up my supply of cards)! I also decided to make my card in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. After my mom succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 67, there was a season of weeping at her loss. But I also have the comfort of knowing that she is now with the Lord. But she fought valiantly and with faith in her Savior, the True Hope she could cling to.

I used the Poinsettia Ornament, colored the flowers in pink and some green, and fussy cut them. Then I used a circle and "snipped" off the bottom to make a pot for them and layered and popped them with dimensionals. My background is actually masked using the positive and negative die cuts of Circle Ornaments dies and stamping repeatedly with the Noel Ornament image. It was a fun challenge, and I think it worked (making sure the words were level). I just love the words of Christmas in beautiful fonts. I used the Ornate Hearts dies for my "thank you" sentiment from Autumn TreeI added some pink taffeta ribbon, sponged, and matted, and it was done. 

As we begin to prepare to celebrate the season of Christmas, I am reminded that there is a constant ebb and flow in life. We can go from the highest mountain to the lowest valley, and yet God is always in control...and we must always have our eyes on Him. For one day the mystery of God will be finished and everything shall appear to have been done in the most proper time (Matthew Henry).

I know what it is to be in need, 
and I know what it is to have plenty.
I have learned the secret of being content
in any and every situation,
whether well fed or hungry, 
whether living in plenty or in want.
Philippians 4:12

This is one beautiful, clever and inspirational card! Love the background for starters...very creative! The vase made w/circle die...very inspirational! The poinsettias are colored so lovely and making it pink is beautiful! Oh, and I like it too! Big hugs!

Wowzer girl!! This is stunning my friend!! I just love your use of masking to create this bouquet of poinsettias. Your coloring and design is exquisite. I love everything about this card!! I am sure your mom would to. How great to make this in honor of your Mom. I love that verse too (Philippians 4:2). What a great reminder to know God is always in control and He is holding us in the palm of His hand on the mountains and in the valleys.

Oh, my word, Cheryl! This is so beautiful! I love how you made the vase and have done that before, too. I thought at first it was part of the stamp, but, no, it is your own cleverness. The background is absolutely fabulous! I could have sworn it was designer paper (which I LOVE, by the way). There are always little ways to love and honor those we have lost. Your Mom would be so pleased with this card and proud of you, her beautiful daughter, too.

jaw dropping beautiful mf...wow....this is glorious.
I know how you feel...my mom had breast cancer then beat it. Then she ended up getting colon cancer and just couldn't fight the fight. I miss her so much everyday and my heart broke to see such a kind, caring and giving women die in that way. A part of me will always be missing without her but I know she is where she lived to be...in heaven with the Good Lord.

You have such a beautiful way with words Cheryl. My mom also had breast cancer, but she is still with us. I'm so glad you had the assurance of where your mom was going. I don't have that with either of my parents. I love for you to put them on your prayer list. Your card is just stunning in pink. Hugs!

This is gorgeous Cheryl! Love the various pinks in the poinsettia and all of your other fabulous details!! I am sorry to hear about your Mom, but thankful she is with the Lord!! My mother passed away from endometrial cancer at 57 but thankfully she is also with the Lord (possibly they have met and are worshipping Him together in Heaven :-)) Hugs and God Bless, my friend!!
