Little Drummer Boy

CherylQuilts, Our Daily Bread Designs, Shining the Light Challenge, Little Drummer Boy, Christmas

This week's Shining the Light challenge is Word Play for NOEL.  I started with the precious Little Drummer Boy set.  Here's my list of word play elements:

N - Nestabilities
O - Oval
E - Embossing
L - Layering

After selecting my papers, I colored the little boy, used a Spellbinders oval die and sponged a bit, and then matted the oval. I stamped the sentiment, "Welcome, Baby Jesus," and embossed that piece and layered the various designer papers on the card base.  Since this is for our six-year-old grandson, it had to be fairly simple and strong (if you know what I mean…LOL!).

To see all the creations in one place or join the challenge, please visit Our Daily Bread Designs Blog.  You have until December 22 to join us.  You may use any stamps to enter, but if you have any Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we would love to see you use them.  If you participate, you have an opportunity to win a $15 certificate toward ODBD stamps or to be "spotlighted" for the Shining the Light Award (the SLC award is only for those who use ODBD stamps).  We would so love to see your creations!

Thanks so much for "stopping by" and leaving a comment or sharing a thought.  Have a wonderful week, and I leave you with the words of the second verse of this song:

Little baby, pa rum pa pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pa pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pa pum pum
That's fit to give our King, pa rum pa pum pum
Rum pa pum pum, rum pa pum pum
Shall I play for You, pa rum pa pum pum
On my drum, on my drum

So if you hadn't started humming the song as soon as you saw this little drummer boy, I'm sure you are now!  LOL!  For me, it's a reminder that I bring nothing to God and that Jesus has done it all…through His grace and mercy. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died for my sins, and rose again defeating sin and death. And someday I look forward to seeing Him face to face! That's my joy in celebrating Christmas!  May it be with you as well!

For His glory,

Oh I'm definitely humming along now Cheryl! Thanks for sharing the second verse... it's such a perfect snapshot of us, standing before Him with no good of our own, yet He loves us and receives us in to His royal family, and all He asks is that we use what He's given us for His glory! Love your adorable drummer boy card! He is colored to perfection and I love the colors you used on this.

Loving your blog Cheryl! I know you will bless many through it!!!

A beautiful and meaningful Christmas card, Cheryl. I love the card, and the song is one of my favorites. I especially like the duet version of Bing Crosby and David Bowie. From the cradle to the cross, were all knees shall bow. Thank you Lord, Jesus for the greatest gift of all!

Cheryl, your card is simple and elegant and colored so beautifully! Love it! Not sure why I've never invested in this set since our middle son is a drummer! Going to have to remedy that! I've got that song picked out as one of my selections for piano prelude this Sunday...it's always a favorite of mine!
